"But then people are gonna be asking, 'Why you running around with no hands?'" Dean, ILU forever.

I love Gabriel too, and I was so happy when he turned up. And then wasn't dead! But then he was. Man. I'm gonna miss him. Glad he was able to bring it a bit there at the end. I'm a little sad we're not going to have a team at the end. I mean, we've killed everyone who could be part of a final battle.

Reka, you annoy me so often, but it's nice to see you again, all the same.

I could go on about how American Gods has been there, done that, much better, and how this brings up the very awkward bit when the Judeo-Christian God is elevated above the polytheists, but that would take a long time, and bring me away from happy times. And okay, Lucifer said some nasty stuff to Mercury and he's the bad guy, but then he easily ganked all the gods in the hotel! The writers proved him right! The angels are stronger than the gods! This is why you don't mix omnipotent Gods with the gods that do get tricked and proven wrong and outwitted/smarted/fought in their own mythologies. You end up trashing everyone else.

Ah! "Get her out of here"?? She's a fucking GOD! I believe Kali can take care of herself, for fuck's sake!

All that aside, I did enjoy this episode, partly because I love Gabe, partly because Sam and Dean were doing well together, and partly because aside from all the weird crap that happened with the gods, I couldn't help but love the idea of the gods teaming up to stop this. I hate that they were defeated so easily (and really? That's who you brought to the party? Fucking Mercury? Kali, obviously, and Odin, but Baldur?), but the general idea that yeah, of course they'd have something to say about all of this was pretty cool.

I guess my problem is that I've read American Gods, so this just fell flat, even as I liked the basic idea. I don't even get why they were evil, as a group. Or why they were eating people. I mean, they should have been the perfect allies. Talk about your heavy hitters. And who were the ones who didn't get names? And HOW DID LUCIFER KILL THEM ALL SO EASILY??

Crowley's back next week! And the week after! Also, the write up on wiki for the finale is hilariously vague and curt: "The showdown between good and evil is at hand. With the Apocalypse looming, Sam and Dean realize they are out of options and make heart-breaking decisions that will change their lives forever. Meanwhile, someone faces death."

It's like the death is an afterthought to heartbreak and change. Also, it's the fucking Apocalypse. I'm sure there are a lot of people facing death - like, the whole world.
