So I am just loving life right now. I have rediscovered my inner geek. Now some people insist I don't act enough like a geek. Others think I'm kidding when I say some people don't believe I'm a geek. But the truth is, I am. A big, dorky geek. And so the other day we were running around cafepress.com, and found a ton of physics shirts.
"Physics is like sex. Sure, it has practical results, but that's not why we do it." ~Feynman
"If love is chemistry, then sex is definitely physics."
"Pi is exactly 3... Sorry, that had to be done to get your attention."
"A black hole is where God divided by zero."
I really want one. The problem is choosing. We should all have such tough choices, yes?
In other spazzed out geekiness, I am head over heels in love with Rodney McKay. For anyone who hasn't seen Stargate: Atlantis... ok, the show is not fantastic. It's kinda dumb, kind of a popcorn show. But it's so much fun! And the characters are delish, and most especially, IMO, Rodney. Yes, he is also a big geek, of the astrophysicist variety. He also knows that he is one of the smartest men on the entire planet, and he is a total ass about it. He is also a wuss, and a whiner, and he can be downright mean, but he will always do the right thing in the end, no matter how terrified he is.
And, if you ride in certain circles of fandom, he is head over heels in love with John Sheppard, the guy in charge of Atlantis' military. John also has a thing for numbers, which means he's smart enough to butt heads with Rodney, and anyway, Rodney doesn't think he's totally worthless (which is rare for Rodney), and he's a pilot, which means flyboy, which means cocky, but also completely unflappable, which is good when dealing with Rodney, or Atlantis and murdering aliens.
I really cannot explain my incredibly love for Rodney McKay. But it is there. Also cute is Atlantis's (the city) big huge crush on John Sheppard. He has this gene that the Ancients (the people who built the city) did, the ATA gene. And that means that all Ancient technology loves him. The hallways light up for him as he walks by, the climate controls fix themselves because he wants them to, devices work for him... it's really cute.
And since I'm being spastic, I want a vid for TOS with "Don't Fall in Love" for Jim and the Enterprise. "You're gonna like her, cuz she's got class... She's everything you dream about, but don't fall in love... She'll give you every penny's worth, but it will cost you a dollar first. She's a beauty. She's one in a million girls, but don't fall in love, cuz if you do, you'll find out she don't love you."
It's so perfect. I can just picture shots to go with all of this.
So yeah. Right now, I am just insanely happy with being a big geek, and loving pi (3.1415926535 8979323846 2643383279...), and having awesome friends and floormates and I love life! And Rodney McKay is still pretty fly for a white guy.
