A few things of import that I've seen in the past few days:

Turtle Power! Honestly, I didn't even know they were making this movie, but now that I do, I'm pretty damn excited. Comes out in March.

Also, does anyone remember when they were going to do an updated, real people version of The Last Unicorn? I don't know where that ever went. All I can find now is stuff about the old animated version, so maybe that fell through. Sad. I always wanted them to re-do that one.

Speaking of good fantasy, they're also making The Golden Compass (or Northern Lights, if you prefer) into a movie. So far, the only definite casting decision seems to be Nicole Kidman as Ms. Coulter. I wholeheartedly approve of this choice. Imdb trivia says that Pullman himself wanted Jason Isaacs for the role of Lord Asriel, but then imdb lists Paul Bettany as "in talks." I'd prefer Isaacs, but we'll see what happens.

I think he should do it. Ian McKellan passed up Dumbledore, or he could have had the trifecta, between Gandalf and Magneto. If Isaacs plays his cards right, he could have Asriel, Malfoy, and - shit, I lied. I always think he was Elrond, because I can't keep Hugo Weaving and Jason Isaacs straight in my head. Sorry. But Isaacs was Mr. Darling/Captain Hook in the 2003 Peter Pan, so there! Still a king of children's fantasy.

Whoever they cast, filming is set to start in early September, so they better decide soon.

Anyway. More things to look forward to, in addition to all the superhero movies. Ah! Found the tentative rundown:

Superwoman: 2007, with Joss Whedon writing the script, and both Morena Baccarin and Charisma Carpenter rumored to lead. I'd prefer Charisma, but that's just me. We'll see if he gets any of his girls. I'm pretty excited about this one, assuming they let Joss do his thing. Joss knows his comics, so I think he'll do right. Though it is weird to think of him writing in someone else's 'verse. I know he wrote some X-Men, but I never read them.

Spiderman 3: 2007. I don't actually care much about the Spiderman franchise. I like Tobey McGuire, I really do, and I didn't mind the movies, but I just really have no attachment to them at all. Actually, I don't think I even saw the second one all the way through.

Batman: Dark Knight: 2008, Chris Nolan writing again, and Heath Ledger cast as the Joker. I've heard they're going to avoid Robin in this set of movies, which I'm not crazy about, but... I'll deal. I'm pretty excited about this one, too. I liked Batman Begins, and it's the same writer and cast, so it should be good.

Superman 2: 2009. Not much known about this one, but Returns apparently did well enough to warrent a sequel, so goodie. I guess. I just want more of Kevin Spacey as Lex.

And because I can never pimp it enough, there are TWO WEEKS left until THE MOTHERFUCKING SNAKES ON A MOTHERFUCKING PLANE come out.

Y'all are coming to see it with me, right? Damn straight you are.

Oh, also, I meant to note, what is it with all most of the responses to [livejournal.com profile] sga_flashfic's current prompt, Superpowers, being ridiculous? I love it, don't get me wrong, but there's been Nipple Power, Flashdance Power... what will they think of next?

I love my fandoms.
