Well.
This certainly explains a lot. I've been getting IMed by people with "Salmon" in their sn for a few weeks now, and the first one started the conversation with a crappy come-on. So I cussed him out and blocked him. Then I got IMed again. And again. And I ignored some of them, assuming they were related, due to the name, but once or twice, the IM seemed genuinely interested, and besides, who's crazy enough to just keep changing their sn slightly, and keep coming back? I was ignoring them, after the first time. They should have given up.
Today, the first thing the person sent me was the above link. After checking it really was just an lj page, I followed the link.
Oh. And now I am happily chatting with a high school senior about books and class choices. This is actually kind of cool, though I wish more of them would try to explain what the deal is. Most of my previous experiences with people who IM me randomly and refuse to tell me their name have not been good ones.
