Do you believe in the one true edge?
Nov. 12th, 2008 07:51 pmI'm trying not to think about the holidays, because I hate the people who are already playing Christmas music and decorating things in red and green and with bells and holly and pine.
But.
But I really want to be home with a fireplace, and to be making cookies, and I really want to see if I could make my own chai.
And I really want to have time to settle down and write, though my creative writing course next year could take care of some of that, except of course for the part where what I really want is to be writing some awesome Kirk/Spock slash.
Also, I want more awesome Kirk/Spock slash. Do you think I could start a renaissance, and get all of the new awesome writers that do SGA and Smallville and the other fandoms that I love to go back and try their hand at K/S? There's some stuff that I like, but Jesus, it all reminds me of the kind of writing I did back in high school, and I really want some just wacky fun stories, or some fantastic romances. Angst is kind of way overdone in the ST fandom.
Also, if you haven't seen Keith Olbermann's special report on gay marriage here, you really should. I remember really, really liking the bit he did last year, calling for Bush's resignation, but this is something else again. I thought parts of it were kind of sappy, but it fits his point that on some levels, it's really not a political issue. It's about having a goddamn heart.
I've spent the last two weeks or so running myself ragged trying to get work done, and now this week I actually have a chance to breathe. It's nice, because I'm brain dead from all the work lately, but the end of the semester is coming up terrifyingly fast, considering how much I have left to do still.
But.
