You don't know how much I adore you
Aug. 10th, 2009 07:44 pmUm, one of my favorite high school professors just friended me on facebook. He's also friends with the other cool profs, so I friended them as well. I feel super cool now. He was my awesome gay calculus teacher who adopted a baby the year after I left - which sort of blew his cover on the whole 'not gay' thing he had going at my Catholic school. A bunch of us had strongly suspected, for a variety of reasons, but it wasn't something you could really ask, especially at a Catholic school, but apparently his class threw him a baby shower anyway. I just feel gypped that he did it the year after my class graduated, because we loved him to death, and it would have been awesome to throw him a baby shower.
Actually, I should try to find my other awesome math teacher, the Irish one. Oh, high school. I really did love you.
Also, my old boss messaged me after we talked at Abby's party last week to ask if I wanted to volunteer at her now org (also a gay rights thing), and to say she was glad we could catch up. She also said that I should call her if I ever need anything, gave me her phone number, in case I'd lost it, and said, "I know you don't have any family nearby, so really, if you ever need anything, just let me know."
I kind of love people. Seriously, I feel so bad for people who have super professional relationships with their bosses, or couldn't view pretty much all of their professors as mentors (in high school or college for that matter).
It's times like these that I think again about being a high school teacher. Gah. Maybe.
Also, I'm reading Master and Commander, and it is a wonderful book. So far, I love everything.
I think I'm going to be Rorschach for Halloween. I just need the trenchcoat and hat, right? Gloves I think I have, and a scarf, and I can make a mask, right? I'm just worried about seeing through it.
I'm not sure if I need a better gay rights icon, or if this one is actually perfect.
