OUR PRESIDENT JUST WON THE NOBEL PEACE PRIZE!!!
I voted for that man!
I am so sure there's going to be all kinds of whining that he hasn't done anything yet - even the news reports are already saying it. And they're not without a good point.
But a group of people whose job it is to pick these people thinks that he's good enough to get one anyway, on the basis of what he's done so far.
I really wish I got asked to take part in political polls sometimes, because I remember having a fight so often during the election season about whether I'd feel safer, on a national security level, with McCain or Obama in office, and I said Obama, because I didn't think he was going to start wars, I thought he was going to end them. In as many places as he could. I thought McCain, following Bush's clear example, would start a war if threatened. I think Obama would find any other way out first.
I feel like this is the voice of an international organization agreeing with that, and giving not just Obama, but America, a pat on the back for being the world power we're supposed to be. We're not supposed to be a bully, we're supposed to be a peacekeeper. I think this is a reward for finally owning up to that.
We've been tangled up in domestic issues for weeks now. I like the reminder that overall, we are moving in the right direction.
