With a voice as big as the sea
Dec. 1st, 2009 10:01 pmI have started listening to Christmas music now that it is December (though really, I don't feel guilty as long as it's after Thanksgiving). And I'm a little disgusted with myself that I immediately honed in on the pop covers of songs, or the kind of trashy music. I love the choir music and Bing Crosby, but sometimes you need to jam to The Barenaked Ladies version of God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen, or The Beach Boys' Merry Christmas Baby, which I mostly love for the clapping at the beginning. It's so peppy!
Oh, and because this goes along with carols, it's time once again for THE CRAZY LIGHTS HOUSE!
My roommate and I agreed that this weekend there would be cookie baking and apartment decorating. I bought a tree stand today, and I want to go get a tree after work tomorrow.
I love December. Let the mad rush of final projects and deadlines begin: I go home in less than three weeks!
PS - Is it weird that I've always interpreted the line from "Do You Hear What I Hear" as "A star, a star, dancing in the night, with a tale as big as a kite," to be a play on words between tail and tale, but I honestly believe it reads as above? I understand the other one makes more concrete sense, but the star clearly has a story to tell, right? It's all about a story getting passed on. Anyway, I'm pretty sure it's my favorite Christmas song.
Oh! One more thing, in keeping with last entry's theme: Christmas muppets! AKA, my second favorite Christmas song, but only if it's this version, and Beaker is still my favorite.
ETA: NO! That was the wrong version! This is the right one, with Beaker! The other one is sadly lacking in any Beaker whatsoever!
