I'm listening to the Men In Black commentary while working on grad school apps, and the director just mentioned, "Well this was before Will got here. He was still working on The Fresh Prince, so we had about two weeks without him at the beginning."

<3!!!

I guess I was pretty young when this came out, but over the years it totally escaped me that this movie was actually that early. Aww. Baby Will Smith!

Also, apparently Tommy Lee Jones wrote his intro scene that he does in Spanish, which is kind of adorable. Apparently he rewrote a lot of his scenes, which I feel has to be annoying to some people in the process, but this movie is awesome, so I'd say probably it was a good call. "The best way to make a comedy is to pretend nothing's funny," the director just said. Amen. I've had this movie on VHS since it came out, but I bought it used on DVD, so I'm newly loving even silly things like the menu screens. Also, I guess it was the year as well, but Tommy Lee Jones seems way too excited about the special effects. "And how'd you do that?! Was that the computer as well?" No Tommy, he really had two sets of eyelids.

The director also has a bad habit of pointing out every time they use a stunt man or a special effect, which seems weird of him, since they don't seem like particularly special effects to me. But I guess that's the 2009 in me talking.

Tony Shalhoub! Man, I always forget that's him.

Man. I think this movie might actually be why I loved The Middle Man so much. Okay, paying attention to applications again.
