I really need to be reading; I haven't done any work all day, and I was supposed to read an article, study for the GREs, and grade papers. It shouldn't have been hard, but there you have it.
But what I want to say is that I made bruschetta for the Star Trek Thrusdays and Sometimes Tuesdays [sic], and now my hands smell like basil and bread and olive oil, and man, sometimes I wish I were an Italian chef.
I don't like all cooking, but I love cooking with another person, and I love baking and Italian cooking. I could probably get into other kinds too, with more practice, but I really love quick meals. I love frying and grilling, and just throwing things into a pan with some olive oil and calling it done when you serve it over pasta. If I could learn a few kinds of curry, I could really get into that, because one of my favorite things to do is make something, then throw it on a plate with pasta, rice, or bread, and just soak it up like that.
I also often like cooking better than I do eating. I love trying a bite or two of what I make, enjoying that it tastes like good food, and then letting everyone else eat it. I love tasting. I'm actually not a huge eater.
I cannot wait to have a kitchen of my own again.
I think I may need to buy a bottle of olive oil, and just keep loaves from Breadsmith in my room. Mmmmh, olive oil and focaccia.
