Let me count the ways
Nov. 4th, 2007 10:45 pmHaha. So. Math made me angry again, as it usually does, but then I went to fool around on the internet, and went looking up the cast of the new Star Trek movie. And seriously, have people been paying attention to this? I didn't recognize most of the names when I first saw them, but we have, as you know them:
Some Dude as Captain Kirk. Sorry, don't know you. But your eyes are blue, not the hazel of fanfic, and that annoys me somewhat, but you do look quite all-American, so I guess you'll do fine. It doesn't matter if you act, at least, since the original couldn't, either.
Sylar, aka Zachary Quinto, who is wonderful, and my only qualm as I was watching him on Heroes the other night and considering him as Spock is that his voice is, while noteworthy, definitely not deep enough. He's very soft-spoken. Actually, I love Quinto to death, I think he'll be amazing, and I was am am delighted with this casting choice.
Eomer as McCoy! I didn't know the name, and then I saw the picture, and I was suddenly in love! It'll be hilarious to see him do a slight southern drawl. He just always looks so intense, and McCoy is pretty laid back. Didn't see that one coming at all, but I love it as well.
Anamaria, from Pirates, as Uhura! She can be my communications officer anytime. Hopefully, you'll get the lines that the old Uhura and Anamaria deserved, because both could do so much more.
Shaun, from Shaun of the Dead, is Scotty. I'm not sure about this one, but then, I didn't see Shaun of the Dead. I guess I'll give him the benefit of the doubt, and assume he can act in different genres?
Harold, from Harold and Kumar, is Sulu. Interesting choice. He is quite cute. Also, I've never seen Harold and Kumar? Also, I thought White Castle was a place until I moved to Minnesota and saw one for the first time? Therefore, I reserve judgement.
This kid is playing Chekov, and I think he looks adorable, and then I wondered why he was so young, and then I realized he should be, and then I saw he was only two years younger than me, and I felt weird about the word adorable, and then I realized some of those pictures are probably a few years old, so I was looking at a kid I could babysit, and then I was okay with thinking he was adorable.
Eric Bana is playing someone called Nero. I don't know who. Maybe he'll make fun of Tiberius. I don't care, as long as he's there, and pretty, but my guess is he's the villain. I'm glad he's on board.
Oh, and Leonard Nimoy is also signed on, though I haven't heard whether it'll be a short cameo kind of thing, or something more substantial.
Also, Shatner never stops being funny. I really do love the man. I need to download some Boston Legal.
