dancinguniverse: (lesbianism)
Okay, so a few weeks ago, I talked about Orson Scott Card being a dumbass. He mentioned in that article that he'd be back to talk about science.

Well, he did so.

Read at your leisure, I'm not going to go into quite as much detail as I did last time, but I did have to quote this part in its entirety, because it's that absurd.

The bisexual problem: Ever since 1973, the homosexuality normalizers have done their best to avoid pointing out the prevalence of what is called "bisexuality," but which might just as easily be called "indeterminacy." A large number of men and women marry and conceive children before (at the age of a normal midlife crisis) they discover or reveal that they "were always" homosexual.

Obviously, whether or not they were fantasizing a different partner, they successfully mated and reproduced. This makes hash of the doctrines of inevitability.

What is clear is that the culture of homosexuality strongly pressures persons identified as homosexuals to "come out of the closet," "stop fooling themselves" or otherwise surrender to the doctrine that if you ever have a homosexual desire or are aroused by a homosexual partner, that means that you "are" a homosexual and any attempt to repress or sublimate or simply refuse to act on those desires is useless and doomed to failure no matter what you do.

And when many individuals report that they have successfully lived heterosexual lives despite or after homosexual experiences or desires, they are dismissed by the normalizers as "victims of a repressive society" or "never really homosexual in the first place" or, of course, as liars.

I mean... I can't even think of what I want to say, I just thought that should be repeated. Because people are clearly black or white, gay or straight, and... and you know what? People's lives suck. Of course people can live successful lives with a partner of the opposite sex from what they truly desire. People also have more kids than they wanted, or no kids when they wanted lots. People work jobs they hate, live in places they find terribly dull, live apart from friends and family they miss like hell. People live with illness, with unsupportive partners, and they don't usually do all of these things, but they do one or a few of them, and can still say that they led a "successful" life. But you're an idiot if you don't at least try to change those things for the better, if you have half a shot in hell at it.

And seriously, if you're having "homosexual desires" or are "aroused by a homosexual partner," then you're at least bi. That's what the term means, in its most bare-bones sense. It's not something the gay community made up to try to up recruitment. If you're 100% straight, then you're not gonna have queer fantasies. You may not be queer enough to settle down forever with your gay partner, but you should probably admit you're not solely interested in the opposite gender.

He then goes on to talk about how since everyone says that homosexuals can't help being the way they are, this means that, like children or animals, they aren't expected to be able to control their desires. He seems to think that our oh so politically correct government will turn a blind eye to gay rape, since "they can't help it," but again, he misses the point. SODOMY IS NO LONGER A CRIME (at least in most places). As long as it's consensual, WHY THE HELL SHOULD THEY CURB THEIR DESIRES?

And lastly, he mentioned this in his last article too, and many anti-gay spokespeople do, but what is with the reproduction concern? Our planet is heavily overpopulated, do they really think we're gonna die off because gay people are reducing the number of reproducing couples in the world?

People are so dumb and small minded.

Oh. This reminds me. I read a book by Madeline L'Engle the other day. She is not small minded. )
