your inner mind, so inexpressible.
Apr. 10th, 2011 05:48 pmSomeone remind me, this summer and fall, when I'm commuting a ton, that I added a bunch of books to my amazon wish list, so I can buy them as audiobooks soon. I don't want to spend the money now, plus I have over a month until my commuting run starts. But music can only last so long, and I found out when I was driving from Minnesota to Illinois regularly that books make the time go way faster than even the best music.
Speaking of music though, I downloaded
gyzym's soundtrack to her story where Eames owns a coffee shop and Arthur is a stressed out lawyer. It's kind of speaking to me at the moment, with all the stress about where my life is going, in terms of work. It's a really good list of songs, and I'm really enjoying the mix.
The Veronica Mars soundtrack is also amazing. My boyfriend asked me at one point if I decide to like TV shows based on whether I can dance to the theme song, and he might be on to something. But I loved the Dandy Warhols long before Veronica Mars, so take that! But really, the song I've been playing nonstop is Mike Daughty's I Hear the Bells, which just makes me incredibly happy. It keeps reminding me of ee cummings, because while I've come to think he might just be singing "dum dum dum," in the chorus, I first heard it as "down, down, down," which, combined with the bells, immediately had me thinking about "anyone lived in a pretty how town."
Plus, you know, Logan Echolls association. I'm glad I got to hear the stuff about his view on their "epic love," and I really want more, but I know enough about the third season that I don't think I'm missing much. I keep thinking, "well, my expectations are pretty low," but they weren't super high for season 2 even, based on what I'd heard. And while I still really enjoyed season 2, it just really failed to impress me in all the ways season 1 did. Too much "tell," right at the end, and not enough "show" throughout the season. I thought season 1 was much better put together. And knowing what I do, particularly about watching my OTP get jerked around more, and the lack of a big season long mystery, I just feel like I'm probably better off not watching.
I don't know. If it were a let down the way Buffy season 7 was a let down, I could take it. But if it's a let down the way Heroes season 3 was, well. That was one of the worst things I've experienced in a tv show. Eh, who am I kidding? If I can get it for $10 the way I did the second season, I'll probably do it. Why not? At least Kristen Bell and Jason Dohring are pretty, pretty people. And Weevil and Mac stick around too, so. Positive.
Okay, back to finding reasons why MOND (MOdified Newtonian Dynamics) is wrong, wrong, wrong, so I can debate it at group meeting this week. Astronomers: we have our own fun.
